Step 1: Extraction

To summarize the stages of the intervention, the expert doctor first begins to delimit the donor area at the back of the head. With delicacy and precision, the hair follicles are extracted from this area using the “trumpet” punch, also called hybrid punch. This tool has a very specific flared shape: its outer part is sharp, and the inner wall acts like a funnel. Thus, when the tip gently penetrates the skin, the punch finds its way around the follicle, which reduces the risk of transection, i.e. the follicular unit is preserved. No scalp trauma is caused. This rigorous work of manual extraction of the follicles therefore guarantees regrowth.

Step 2: Implantation

The expert work does not stop at the removal, the implantation of the follicles responds to a meticulous protocol. First, the nurse sorts and classifies the hair follicles one by one according to the number of hairs they contain: from 1 to 9 (in certain exceptional cases), the average being 2.2. Then each graft is inserted into the injector stylet so that the doctor can proceed with its implantation. Single follicles (with one individual hair) are reserved for the hairline, and multiple follicles for the rest of the scalp to give density. Therefore It is possible to implant the grafts sufficiently close to each other to obtain an optimal density of 35 to 70 hairs per cm2 and a harmonious result.
